Ear training and theory

The goal of the course is to learn the theoretical rules of music and ear training skills that support all kinds of music playing, music arrangement and composing. The students learn, for example, key types, intervals, chord structure, chord inversion, chord symbols, and the time values of notes. In addition, the students practise reading and writing rhythm and melody and listen to intervals and chords. If the student has a solid foundation with music theory and ear training, the course can also be completed independently with an exam.

Guitar or bass

The goal of the course is to help the student develop in guitar or bass playing through group and/or individual instruction. The objective is to develop the student’s playing skills and general musicianship. Another goal is to exercise playing by ear and improvisation as well as gradually mastering common chords, chord progression, comping and styles—i.e. smooth, style-appropriate and creative accompaniment.
