The main artists of the festival are students of the Sámi Music Academy who step on stage with their own solo programs and professional musicians. The concert includes Sámi songs, luohti (yoik) and livđe in traditional form as well as with instruments.

You will also hear a lot of new Sámi music at the festival as this year’s new songs and music videos from the Sámi Musi Academy get their premiere.
The Sámi musihkkaakademiija festivála offers a full-day music experience in Utsjoki and also offers good food and markets. Admission is free and the festival is for all ages.

The co-operation gives additional value to recent graduates
End of the nightless night is soon in Utsjoki, predicting that the project is coming to an end at the Sámi Music Academy. In August, graduating students will be celebrated at the Sámi Music Academy Festival. The main stars of the day are students of the Sámi Music Academy, who will perform their own solo programs with professional musicians at the festival's concerts. Special guests for the festival come from the Central Ostrobothnia Conservatory. Folk music lecturer Pasi Porvari from the Central Ostrobothnia Conservatory is pleased with the cooperation between his school and music academy. “Our thoughts on the goal of our studies went together from the beginning."

New music in Sámi language
Students of the Sámi Music Academy, Aimo Aikio, Heli Aikio and Anna Lumikivi will publish new songs they have made during this academic year. The songs have been made as an optional project as a part of Sámi music studies, which they have passed during the academic year. In the project, the students have composed, written lyrics and, together with the musicians, made arrangements for the songs. The results are two Inari Sámi and one Skolt Sámi song. The songs will start playing on YLE Sápmi's radio programs before Easter and later in the spring the songs will be published online.
